Olivia's Link on Chandragupta
This article, by the Ancient History Encyclopedia, was very informative not only on the life and conquests of Chandragupta Maurya, but also on the history of the Maurya Empire and the events which occurred before the existence of the Maurya Empire. For example, the article entails details about Alexander the Great, the Nanda dynasty, and also the government of Chandragupta's empire. The Ancient History Encyclopedia's page is well written for people of all ages. The author presents the article in a purely factional point of view, and explains every topic clearly and thoroughly. This work was very helpful in providing background knowledge on Chandragupta and the empires that existed before Maurya, more specifically the Magadha kingdom. This article was also useful due to the authors' lack of bias and historic precision. This article was very accurate when compared with other reliable works, and provided valuable information in a concise, well thought-out page. This article contributed highly to the overall project and was incredibly beneficial.
Brendan's Link on Ashoka
This article appears on the website, Ancient History Encylopedia. The article gives basic information about the Emperor Ashoka, the third ruler of the Mauryan Empire. This page describes Ashoka's rule with ancedotes about his rule and his change from a cruel rule of violence and war to a decision to denounce war. There are very few specific facts provided, but a general description of Ashoka's reign and the role Buddhism seemed to play in his decisions is described generally. The article also describes the importance Ashoka played in expanding Buddhism in India by describing some ways in which Ashoka supported Buddhism .
Brendan's Video on Ashoka
This video is a good source of information. It describes Asoka and his military reign. Also, it gives information on the Mauryan Empire during his rule. It combines maps, illustrations, and video reenactments to tell the story in an interesting fashion. The Discovery Channel is a reputable source of historical videos. In my future projects I will definitely try and incorporate this source material.
